When the love of God is continually in our hearts, and we perceive the world and those around us through His love, then we are perpetually blossoming and growing closer to this Source of Love. In the spring, the weather becomes warmer, flowers begin to blossom, and the birds are singing more; this is a time of fruitfulness and growth. This too is how it is in the hearts of those who always possess the love of God- they more easily nurture and grow in their faith, exhibit constancy in joys and trials, and produce greater fruits because of the virtues overflowing in their hearts.

This painting attempts to depict the embodiment of spring in one such heart. A serene girl is illustrated with a taste of spring bursting forth from her heart: a medley of flowers (daffodils, lilies, roses, daisies, and chrysanthemums) brushed with gold, golden butterflies, a golden bird, and a soft blue sky in the background with the sun hitting her face. In virtue of her love for God, her subsequent words and deeds (as illustrated by these elements of nature) are all covered with gold- the richness of God. What springs forth from her vernal heart is already coated with the love of God, since He already dwells there.
